Assam D.El.Ed. Admission 2026
The State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), Assam has released the official notification for Assam D.El.Ed. Admission 2026. Online applications are invited from eligible permanent residents of Assam to appear in the Pre-Entry Test (PET) 2026 for admission into the 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed.) course for the academic session 2026-2028. The course is offered at NCTE-recognized Teacher Education Institutes (TEIs) including DIETs, CTEs, Normal Schools, BITEs, BTCs, and approved private institutes across the state.
Online submission of applications opens on 21 May 2026 and closes on 10 June 2026. The Pre-Entry Test will be held on 12 July 2026, with admit cards available for download from 5 July 2026 onwards. The result will be declared on 27 July 2026. Admission is granted on the basis of district-wise merit prepared from the PET score, with 30% of seats in each district reserved for Science Stream candidates and 70% for Arts and other streams.

Exam Centres: The PET centre will be allocated within the district that the candidate selects in the application form. The exact venue will be printed on the admit card. Selected candidates will get seats in TEIs of the same district where they appeared for the test.
Negative Marking: 0.25 mark will be deducted for every wrong answer. If a candidate marks more than one option for a question, it will be treated as an incorrect response.

Application Fee
The application fee is ₹600 (Rupees Six Hundred only) for all categories, payable online through Internet Banking, Debit Card, Credit Card, or UPI during submission of the application form. The application fee is non-refundable.
Selection Procedure
Selection is purely on the basis of marks scored in the Pre-Entry Test. SCERT will publish district-wise merit lists separately for the Science stream and the Arts and other streams. After the result, online counselling is conducted where candidates have to give preferences of TEIs they wish to study in. Allotment is made based on the candidate’s score, category, district, and seat availability in the preferred institute.
Note: Acquiring the D.El.Ed. diploma does not automatically entitle a person to claim recruitment in any government elementary school. Recruitment will be governed by separate rules notified by the appropriate authority.

Documents Required at the Time of Verification
Selected candidates have to produce the following original documents at the time of admission in the allotted Teacher Education Institute. Failure to produce any document will result in cancellation of admission.
The required documents include the HSLC admit card or certificate as proof of age, HS pass certificate and marksheet, caste certificate from the competent authority (if applicable), PWD or EWS certificate (if applicable), permanent residence proof, and an undertaking signed by the candidate stating that he or she is not pursuing any other regular course during the same academic session.
